[vtkusers] vtkPolyData on plane

hi all,
this is my first message in this ML :)
I've a problem and that is to "unroll" a polydata on a plane (so this is 
not a projection)
Supposing that the polydata is like a half cylinder (not regular) , my 
first care is to calculare the real
length and heigth; so I want to calculate the dimension of every cell 
along a direction. These dimensions can be
the dimension of plane. But hot o obtain them? Or there are simplest way 
to do this?
